Top 5 Questions I Receive About Botox

1. How Long Does Botox Last?

Botox isn't permanent (unfortunately). The most common duration that people experience results is around three to four months. This timeframe varies because it depends on how your body metabolizes Botox after it's injected.

2. When Will Botox Kick In?

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Most patients notice results three to five days after the injections, with the maximum effect appearing in about a week. However, it's important to wait a full two weeks before considering adding additional units.

3. Do You Need Preventative Botox?

The simple answer is: If you don’t see any wrinkles, you don’t need Botox. There is no reason to inject Botox in an area where there are no faint lines present. However, if you do notice a faint line, you might want to consider it, as it could develop into a more noticeable wrinkle over time. By opting for treatment early, before deep lines set in, you can prevent the formation of those lines altogether.

4. How Do You Choose Between Different Neurotoxin Brands?

When selecting the right toxin for you, the choice ultimately depends on personal preference and some trial and error. Everyone metabolizes these products differently. Some clients may find that Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau has a faster onset of action, while others may feel the same about Botox, or they might notice that one of these neurotoxins lasts significantly longer than the others. It's crucial to consult with a certified professional who is knowledgeable about each of these neurotoxins to evaluate your needs and determine the best treatment plan.

5. What Are The Side Effects Of Botox?

As long as you’re not allergic to Botox, one of the biggest side effects is bruising, which is usually mild due to the small size of the needles used for injections. It’s important to avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment to help minimize the risk of bruising. Rare side effects may include pain, headache, or infection at the injection site. Fortunately, all possible side effects are typically reversible.
